Description: Pecos Valley Aquifer Project Boundary.This dataset is a modification to the TWDB Pecos Valley Aquifer Major Aquifer Map boundary. This was developed by comparing the existing boundary with the digital Texas geologic atlas map and existing and new well control. The purpose of this map was to define the project extent for GIS analysis of project data. The boundary includes "holes" consisting of formation outcrops, such as the Dockum Group and Cretaceous Undivided, where the Pecos Valley Alluvium is not present. These outcrop boundaries were extracted from the digital geologic atlas.This dataset was prepared to meet a specific purpose as described in the following report, which is available on the TWDB website:Meyer, J.E., Wise, M.R., and Kalaswad, S., 2011, Pecos Valley Aquifer, West Texas: Structure and Brackish Groundwater: Texas Water Development Board, report in preparation.The data used to prepare this dataset is also available in the Brackish Resources Aquifer Characterization System (BRACS) MS Access Database, data dictionary, and raw data files (digital geophysical well logs and water well information).
